Let's make November 17, 2011 a day that will go down in history. Occupy Wall St. has issued a call to action and local occupy movements around the nation are planning actions in solidarity.
Protesters from Occupy Eureka, Occupy Arcata, and Occupy Humboldt have reclaimed the Eureka courthouse lawn tonight. Protesters removed the fencing after a rally that drew around 100 people. Eureka police then moved in across the street and put on riot gear. After almost 2 hours they got back in there cars and left.
Police staged a predawn raid this morning at Occupy Eureka, arresting at least 12 people. There are reports that at least one of those arrested were injured. Bystanders were reportedly threatened with tear gas. Occupy Humboldt says that there will be a solidarity march today at 2:45 pm from Occupy Arcata at city hall to the courthouse in Eureka. There will be a rally at the courthouse at 5 pm.
There was a good general assembly tonight. We are very grateful for the delicious food from the Vets for Peace and Martha Divine. We have a lot of organizing planned for tomorrow. We are in our fourth week of occupying space in Arcata. We are grateful for the support we are getting from small business owners. Some of our organizers have put up a new Facebook page.
